The NC Affordable Housing Coalition works to ensure that every North Carolinian has a home in which to live with dignity and opportunity. The Coalition accomplishes this through advocacy and mobilization, technical assistance, and research. At this LWV-Wake Timely Topics event, Executive Director Samuel Gunter will address the affordable housing needs in both North Carolina and Wake County, the state’s long-term response to recent natural disasters, and the lingering consequences of the recent government shutdown on the housing market and on families and communities with low-incomes.

Samuel Gunter is the Executive Director of NC Housing Coalition. Prior to joining the Coalition in 2015 as Director of Policy and Advocacy, Samuel was Faith & Advocacy Coordinator at Habitat for Humanity of Wake County and also worked in public policy in positions at the Christian Life Commission, the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition and the U.S. Peace Corps. Samuel is a Baptist minister and has served churches in North Carolina and Texas. He currently sits on the Advocacy Committee of Habitat for Humanity International and the Board of Directors of both Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina and the Council of Independent State Housing Associations. He holds a B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School.
