2010 Mabel Claire Maddrey Award Winner Is Betsy Watson
 

Each year, in May, Democratic Women of Wake County honor long time member, Mabel Claire Maddrey, by making an award in her name to a member who has provided outstanding service and hard work without expectation of recognition or reward. The 2010 winner of the Mabel Claire Maddrey Award is Betsy Watson.

She is a member who has served on the Board of Directors as an officer, committee chair, and president. She has worked to elect Democrats (especially women) to all levels of government. She uses her expertise in protocol and parliamentary procedure to keep meetings on track; she demonstrates by example the qualities of respect for others, fairness, good humor, and seriousness of purpose. She has mentored dozens of women in community service, political effectiveness, and life. In fact, Mrs. Maddrey was her mentor and would, surely, approve of and be pleased with this year's honoree!
